The effects of Composure in some detail.
So today I'm going to explain composure to all the noob RDM's out there since last night one called me some names and said that I don't know what I'm talking about. I'm just a dick who quits and comes back and thinks he's still the shit. Well, first and foremost, I still am the shit, and the dick part has its own validations as well; now lets get down to business.
So let me start by further explaining my reasoning for this. I ran into an old "friend" and we were talking about the level cap, I expressed my displeasure and she expressed how excited she was to spend the rest of her life leveling her 6 75's and more jobs to 99 plus subs, and that for veteran players theres nothing to do in this game. I find that interesting for someone without king gear, full homan, full nashira, and 15/15 salvage gear. Not to mention no 100 craft, or gil. I suppose farming and actually finishing your gear now is so easy that you just think its nothing? This surprised me because this was a person with some really nice gear, duelist chap, nashira legs, I think full blm af2 anyway whatever.
She was wearing this red body piece, one of those synergy things I believe, 'OK' now that stuff is all new too me but I think its stats are some mp, 2 int or maybe some MND anyway no where near that of an errant body, and she augmented it to have fast cast. Now thats great, fast cast is a great stat for any job, especially if you don't have a duelist tabard.
Here's where it gets a little dirty
Her second augment was to be "Enhancing magic recaswt -3%". Now, where to start with this? Enhancing magic -3% means you'll get your spells out 3 percent quicker. Let me stress, This will ONLY HELP YOUR FIRST INITIAL CYCLE AND ANY RESTARTS. Once your cycle is started, no good rdm will every let anyones refresh and haste drop. In fact the time difference may even make haste and refresh recast overlaps thus causing you problems, but thats just a side thought which happens no matter what really.
I pointed out that it was a waste of a buff, but if theres nothing else then its better then nothing so what the heck. She insisted "do the math I can full-time composure if I have that". Really? Who in their right mind would fulltime composure? I stated that it is pointless and could cause problems if you need to curebomb a tank or someone. She pointed out that "the people im playing with must suck if I need to cure. RDM has changed since you've been gone we don't cure anymore". Really? I've been gone 6months and rdm's don't main heal or even backup heal anything anymore?
(I got interupted here to take some meds trying to remember what part im up too)
As if that wasn't a bad enough argument, she pulled up my ffxiah page after I pointed out that if she never has to cure shes obviously not fighting tough things, (or she sucks and is always stuck in blm parties probably) and said "You act like your the shit but your only 400 on ffxiah look at me". What? Are we serious? FFXI ah? Because you leveld 6 jobs and did all the mini expansions I havn't touched while my 3 jobs are far better then any of your 6 your pulling that card on me? "I don't care about ffxiah" I pointed out, "it bases off expansions and jobs leveled not how good they are"
Heres the final part of the argument

I called the subject LAZY for not wanting to click composure on and off once every 5 minutes. I pointed out the recast is 5 minutes and all buffs under the effect of composure pretty much last more then 5minutes. Furthermore I'd like to add, according to wiki
"
* Activating Composure will impose a 25% recast time penalty upon all magic, including songs and ninjutsu.
* The duration of most Enhancing Magic spells that are cast upon yourself while under this effect will be tripled. Buffs casted on other players do not receive this benefit, nor will buffs cast by other players onto someone with Composure active. "
So I'm sorry but your -3% recast will not allow you to cast with composure fulltime. Your still out 22%. I'm going to give exact numbers for my build but first let me use my estimates that I based the conversation on. for arguments sake lets use easy numbers and say with our recast is 12s. 25% of 12seconds is 4 seconds added onto your recast. Making it take 16seconds to recast instead of 12. Now 3% of 12s is ~.36 seconds. Less then half a second. Can someone tell me how adding 3.64 seconds onto the recast of your spells warrants being lazy and not clicking composure on and off. I casted composure + refresh+ haste about 7 or 8 minutes ago now, my composure timer was obviously ready in 5, and my refresh JUST wore. I'm still staring at my haste.

Hands: Dusk
Belt: Swift Belt
feet: (dont have dusk b/c in my testing with them I didn't break a tier

So where is the need to FULLTIME composure? In the mind of someone who is sheer lazy, and thinks they're cool because they're doing HALF the things I did 3 years ago?In a sense by clicking it on and off YOU ARE full timing it, cause you'll always have its affects on your active spells. Do people not know you only need to cast with it on??
P.s. Get your facts straight, I'm the king, and titles DO NOT count on ffxiah. So no you did NOT "fight more then me". I'll unzip my pants and drop the AV title I keep there since I was outside healing and slap you in the face with it.
